In 2006, Bob Myers, from the Berrien County Historical Society suggested that someone nominate our book Bangor-Our History in Photographs for an award with the Historical Society of Michigan.   City Manager Larry Nielson gladly submitted the book.  We were notified in early September that the book was elected to receive their prestigious State History Award for books in the self-published category.  It was one of two honored in which 27 were nominated.  The award was presented at the Historical Society of Michigan Annual Conference in Bay City on September 22, 2006.  This book is a tribute not only to those who worked on it, but also to the entire community of Bangor.
