The Bangor Historical Society

along with the City of Bangor's Cemetery Committee is looking to raise funds to make infrastructure repairs and beautify Arlington Hill Cemetery.  Our goal is to honor all of those who came before us and for all those who will come after us along with their families and their memories.

Maintenance and care of Arlington Hill Cemetery is the responsibility of the City of Bangor. How we perform this duty is a reflection of our community. Interned here are the pioneers, founders, leaders, business people and military heroes, along with our friends and loved ones. Here lie over 100 Civil War veterans who fought to save the Union. There are other vets from the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Gulf Wars along with others who have served their country in a branch of the military. It is our responsibility to give them a respectable final resting place. Funds are currently eaten up with just grass cutting and leaf removal. Not much is left for repairs and maintenance. Help us restore this cemetery to a level of respect and pride.

We are selling bricks upon which can be etched your name, a loved one's name, or a personal message. The bricks (4in. X 8in.) cost $100 each, or larger bricks (8in. X 8in.) are available for $250. These bricks will be laid in the ground near the cannon balls where they can be easily seen. Download the application, fill it out and mail it along with a payment to:

“Each of us must rededicate ourselves to reserving the common good. We are a community. Our individual fates are linked; our futures intertwined; and if we act in that knowledge and in that spirit together, as the Bible says: “We can move mountains.”     --Jimmy Carter
