Entering downtown Bangor from the east at one time was like driving though a tunnel of trees.  The above picture was taken from Center Street looking west toward town.  The houses on the right are now Hardings parking lot.  The two cars in the middle of the photo are in front of the Ford Garage.  The business district is in the background between the trees.  The little dark dome in the center of the concrete road is a storm drain.  The picture probably dates to the early 1920's.
