The above picture was recently purchased on Ebay. It's a small photo taken with a personal camera. It's not known who it belonged to originally. It was probably taken from the second floor of the building now owned by Ely Hardware and looks across Monroe Street. The old West Michigan Savings Bank and Post Office are in the middle. The west end of the Sebring Hotel is on the right. The occasion may be a parade sponsored by the I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows). In the lower right hand corner, is a pile of building materials. Three buildings were constructed in this vicinity in 1916. The current drug store, antique mall and Ely Hardware were all built in that year. |
